The Nighthawks represent the Brandywine area high schools and Delaware Military Academy in the Delaware High School Hockey League (DHSHL). Our middle school teams are for players in grades 5 through 8 in any school.
Scholastic Preview Night
Join us September 30th, 2026 from 8:00 – 9:00pm @ Skating Club of Wilmington.
High school players will participate in a welcome skate. Middle school players will participate in a fun practice and be assigned to teams.

Brandywine/DMA Nighthawks
For the 2026-2027 season the Nighthawks will represent both the assigned Brandywine area schools and the Delaware Military Academy in the DHSHL. This team is for players in grades 9 – 12 at the following schools:

- St. Elizabeth School
~14 Regular Season Games
Home games are played at the Skating Club of Wilmington on Monday and Sunday evenings. Away games are played locally against other school teams and the Delco Dragons.
Weekly Practice
17 hours of practice on Wednesday evenings at the Skating Club of Wilmington.

League Highlights
The DHSHL hosts a season-opening festival, 14 games regular season, league-wide All-Star game, and league playoffs.
High School season fee: $1000 – includes all practice and game ice, referee fees, and league events including festival, playoffs, and All-Star game. The listed fee is the total cost paid directly to the Nighthawks. USA Hockey registration is required and additional. Uniform costs are additional. Fundraising is available to lower the season fee.
Local Hockey for Grades 5 – 8
The Wilmington Nighthawks typically field two middle school teams. Our Middle School teams play in either the Delaware Middle School Hockey League (DMSHL) or the Ice Line Middle School League (ILMSL) as appropriate. This flexibility ensures the teams are competitive while remaining local.
Delaware Middle School Hockey League
Teams in the DMSHL play home games at the Skating Club of Wilmington and away games at other local rinks. Our DMSHL season includes the following:

- 6 Home Games @ Skating Club of Wilmington
- 6 Away Games @ local rinks

- Wednesdays 8 – 9:00pm

Ice Line Middle School League
Teams in the ILMSL play all games at the IceLine rinks in West Chester, PA. All practices are at the Skating Club of Wilmington. Our ILMSL season includes the following:

Middle School Coach Patrick Boyle
Patrick Boyle is returning as the Wilmington Nighthawk’s Ice Line middle school coach. He is USA Hockey Level 5 Certified and is one of only 34 coaches to have completed the USA Hockey Goaltending Gold Certification. He has coached teams at all of Delaware’s rinks, and looks forward to a fun and competitive middle school season.
